RAMS
- 'Registered Australian Mortgage Securities’
(RAMS) was originally formed in 1991 and the RAMS
Home Loans brand was later launched to the retail
market in 1995.
- RAMS Home Loans was designed specifically to
offer Australian home buyers a competitive source of
finance and a flexible, customer-oriented
alternative.
- In the early days, RAMS Home Loans range of
services were made available to customers via its
call centre (13 RAMS, that’s 13 7267), the RAMS
website, and a team of mobile RAMS Home Loan
Managers.
- In 2002, two RAMS Home Loans Centres were opened
on a trial basis in Sydney in order to gauge the
response of customers to having access to
face-to-face RAMS service.
- The RAMS Home Loan Centres proved extremely
popular with customers who appreciated the ability
to discuss their needs with a RAMS Home Loans
Manager.
- In early 2003, RAMS rolled out a proprietary
franchise network of RAMS Home Loans Centres across
Australia which was complemented by distribution
through third party brokers.
- In July 2007, RAMS Home Loans Group Ltd (RHG)
listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and in
January 2008, the RAMS brand and distribution
business was acquired by the Westpac Banking
Corporation.
- Today, Westpac operates the RAMS distribution
business separately from the existing Westpac
channel and under the RAMS brand.
- This new era for RAMS is one which brings
together the ‘best of both worlds’ – that of an
innovative, flexible home loan specialist, combined
with the funding power of a leading Australian bank.
- This unique offering gives us the increased
capacity to meet our customer’s needs and continue
to offer the leading solutions in the market – we
call it ‘can do’ attitude with ‘can do’
strength.
